Early hardware teams often split release context across CAD files, drawings, email, spreadsheets, and revision notes. Manufacturing can receive the geometry without the decisions and assumptions needed to use it confidently.
Engineering release workspace
Protoary
Formerly presented on this website as ForgeCAD
ForgeCAD was retired because the name is already used by multiple CAD products. A later demo used ForgeRelease as a temporary workspace name. Both names are retired: Protoary is now the product and interface name.
Turn working CAD and design intent into a controlled, reviewable release package.
The job to be done
Why this product exists.
Protoary organizes the transition from a working design to a controlled release. It keeps requirements, assumptions, decisions, revisions, review status, and the artifact list together so the handoff is easier to inspect and approve.
How it works
One controlled path through the handoff.
- 01
Collect
Bring together the current CAD and drawing artifacts with material, process, tolerance, revision, and design-intent context.
- 02
Review
Resolve missing information, record assumptions and decisions, and work through a release-readiness checklist.
- 03
Release
Assemble the reviewed package for DatumRelay, a supplier, or the manufacturing team.
Concrete example
What the workflow looks like in practice.
An engineer creates and refines a machined bracket in SolidWorks, Fusion, FreeCAD, or another CAD system. In Protoary, the team collects the STEP model and drawing, records the load-critical dimensions, material and finish, captures review decisions, confirms the revision, and prepares the manufacturing handoff.
Inputs and outputs
What goes in. What comes out.
Inputs and context
- CAD and drawing artifacts
- Material, finish, and process notes
- Requirements and assumptions
- Revision and review context
Resulting record
- Release brief
- Requirements and assumption log
- Decision and revision history
- Design-review checklist
- Controlled artifact list
- Manufacturing handoff package
Where it fits
Distinct role. Clear handoff.
Protoary manages design intent and release preparation upstream. DatumRelay is the independent downstream preflight that challenges the manufacturing package. Protoary is not generic file storage and is not presented as a replacement for CAD.
Current boundaries
What this product is not.
These limits are part of the product decision. They are shown before the launch link so the current scope is clear.
- The public launch path now uses the Protoary name and interface on maxprofoundry.com. The older ai-cad-studio address remains a compatibility origin for previously saved browser data and is no longer the website launch path.
- Geometry is created and edited in a dedicated CAD tool, not in the current Protoary workspace.
- The current product does not provide in-browser sketching, parametric constraints, feature trees, solid modeling, CAE solving, CAM, or toolpath generation.
- It supports the release process; it does not replace qualified engineering review or approval.
